How could we categorize the art you found in your daily life? ariamorgan https://padlet.com/ariamorgan/wl4byls2k7t63qd8/wish/2361176690 I found I encountered doodles and spraypainting as the most obvious, or close to the expectation of what 'visual arts' entail. In a few of my examples of visual art, a very normal moment happened, and in capturing it photographically, it became visual art. Examples of this include, "A friend having a private moment" and "retro red car." I thought the flower vase in Winship, and cracked shell I found on the beach were reminiscent of "still life" paintings that I've seen in museums. The hand of cards, brown paper bag, and haircare products are all typical everyday items, arranged in everyday ways, but I realized that we arrange them that way, often, not only due to the purposes they serve, but due to the fact that the arrangement aesthetically pleases us as people. I was looking at things which I found aesthetically pleasing, and noting moments, which were interesting compositionally to me. I wouldn't typically considered laying down on the bathroom floor visual art, but taking a photo of it, looking at the lighting, the focus on the cheerful shirt in an uncheerful moment, felt like something you'd see put up in a museum. I was also appreciating the world in an aesthetic sense, rather than looking at my hair products like a practical consideration, I thought about why I always put them away in the same configuration, and it's because that configuration satisfies me aesthetically. ]]> 2022-10-28 23:14:33 UTC https://padlet.com/ariamorgan/wl4byls2k7t63qd8/wish/2361179898
