A review of 68 studies related to the risk of social media use in young people published in August 2022 by the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health states that the more time adolescents spend online, the higher the levels of depression and other adverse consequences, the report notes, especially in the most vulnerable.

If this research and the increasing awareness of how social media influence mental health could impact the way we behave online, I have to questions related to the financing of entrepreneurial ventures:  Could this influence the investments in new and already existing platforms in this area? There is a increase in women in the startup environment and in starting up their own business. From 2019, we can see an increase from 28% to 49%. However, women are still disadvantaged when it comes to funding. For instance women get asked more personal questions than men. According to HSBC analysis, treating the genders equally could boost global gross domestic product by as much as $5 trillion a year. 

To adapt to the changes in- and realize the full potential of ventures, I believe it is essential to investigate the causes of this and viable ways to address the issues associated to the variations in funding.
