We would teach students how to succeed in this area, by giving this student the grade they would receive if this were an AP test--4 out of 5. The students adheres to the directions of analyzing "how the author uses such literary devices as speech and point of view to characterize Arun's experiences." He does not receive a 5 because his writing is difficult to decipher and he does not provide direct quotations from the text.

The response is organized and gives a clear overview of the text.
