         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>The Day The Crayons Quit</em></strong><br><br><strong>Official Opinion: </strong> This book was a wonderful read.  It was all about the one child's crayons - telling their individual stories and expressing their frustration.  It would be a wonderful book for a read-aloud.   <br><br><strong>Relevant Audience:  </strong>This<strong> </strong>book would be a great read for a boy or girl, ages 3-7.  I would recommend this book to any child interested in coloring, drawing, or just reading in general. <br><br><strong>What to Learn?</strong> This book would be great to familiarize students with colors, and help them to make connections with problem solving.  If a child is frustrated and not understanding something, then how do we solve the problem like a problem solver? <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Bill and Pete Go Down the Nile</em></strong><br><br><strong>Official Opinion: &nbsp;</strong>This was an awesome book about a crocodile named Bill and his best friend named Pete.&nbsp; They go to school together and learn all about the history of Egypt, while also stumbling unknowingly into an adventure. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;This is a wonderful book suited to both boys and girls.&nbsp; This is a wonderful children's book for children to read that will keep them engaged, but also inform them of real life history.&nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>I would turn this into a history lesson about Egypt and go over the vocabulary in the story with my students.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Polar Bears Past Bedtime<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion: &nbsp;</strong>Jack and Annie are approached by a white owl and taken to the Arctic Circle, where they were then rescued by a seal hunter and given warm clothes. The two siblings meat a few bear cubs and begin to play with them on the ice until the ice begins to break. Luckily they are saved by the mother of the bear cubs, and Jack and Annie eventually make it back home thanks to the help of the Master Librarian.&nbsp; I liked this book for a beginning chapter book.&nbsp; It has an easy plot to follow. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience: &nbsp;</strong>This book is suited to both boys and girls at the early elementary reading level.&nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>What is wisdom?&nbsp; Is there a character in this story that symbolizes wisdom in real life?</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Goosebumps:&nbsp; The Scarecrow&nbsp;<br>Walks at Midnight<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion: &nbsp;</strong>This book is about the main character and her visit other grandparents house.&nbsp; It turns scary when they go to go through the corn mazes and the 12 scare crows come to life. &nbsp; Jodie is faced with a difficult dilemma.&nbsp; Can she fix the problem?&nbsp; What caused this?&nbsp; You will have to read this book to find out.&nbsp; It is a wonderful suspense filled thriller that will keep my younger elementary school kids engaged and get them hooked on reading. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience: &nbsp;</strong>This would be a good book to read by any student who likes a good nail biter (appropriate for early elementary).&nbsp; It is suited for both boys and girls. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>Has anything ever made you scared?&nbsp; How did you get through it?&nbsp; Does this remind you of a season?</div>]]></description>

In the Dragon Masters absence a massive four-headed dragon attacks the castle. It is up to two novice dragon trainers to defend the castle.&nbsp; This is a story about mystery and adventure and has a great engaging storyline. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience: &nbsp;</strong>This story is suited for both boys and girls at the elementary school or middle school level.&nbsp; It depends on the level of reader.&nbsp; This is a book that one of my male students would feel comfortable reading. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>Do you know what an underdog is?&nbsp; In life, sometimes you will hear of the underdog that stand up for what he believes in.&nbsp; Have you ever done that? &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The group of young teenagers quickly make their way through the gym leaders on their way to the Elite Four. The group of friends are not alone and are constantly being bothered with a nefarious group known as Team Flare.&nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;I love this book because it resembles the TV show that I grew up on.&nbsp; This is a book I specifically chose that relates to anime readers.&nbsp; This book is suited to both boys and girls.&nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>Have you ever seen a bully?&nbsp; What would you do in that situation? &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Charlotte's Web</em></strong><br><br><strong>Official Opinion: &nbsp;</strong>This book is about a young girl on a farm.&nbsp; She can connect with them.&nbsp; There is a pig that comes onto the farm and instead of being used for food, supposedly learns how to spin webs.&nbsp; Little does anyone know, that he had made an agreement with the spider in the barn and they both agree to help each other out. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Relevant Audience: &nbsp;</strong>This book is a wonderful read for both boys and girls.&nbsp; It is a testament of hope and happiness. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>Has anyone ever done something that they didn't necessarily agree with to make someone else happy?&nbsp; Has anyone ever had a best friend?&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Old Possums Book of Practical Cats<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion:  </strong>This book goes through a particular story of cats.  The names of cats, particular cats, the Song of the Jellicules, and much much more.  This is my all time favorite book, even now.  It is such a classic book that ties your tongue and is so much fun.  <strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:  </strong>This is a wonderful upper elementary book for those students that want to broaden story telling into poetry.  <strong><br><br>What to Learn?  </strong>This story has several stories inside of it.  It is a book that is put together in a way that may be challenging for students.  This book will make literature a bit more fun to read and hopefully enjoy as much as I did growing up.  I want this to teach my students a little bit about how poetry can be used to retell stories.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>How to Eat Fried Worms<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion:&nbsp; &nbsp;</strong>This story is about a boy and his friends that make a bet.&nbsp; This bet has to deal with "Fried Worms".&nbsp; I won't give too much away, but the main character takes the bet and has to eat 15 worms over the course of several days. &nbsp;<br><strong><br>Relevant Audience:&nbsp; &nbsp;</strong>This is a wonderful book for the boys in my class.&nbsp; I want them to be able to relate to books and learn to love to read books. &nbsp;<strong><br><br>What to Learn? &nbsp;</strong>Have you ever taken a dare?&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; This lesson could be used to teach self efficacy.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion:  </strong>This book is an intriguing book about a family of four wandering into a fantasy land, known as Narnia.  In this book, you see their adventure from start to finish on their first trip to Narnia.  This book has talking animals, adventure, suspense, and it is the imaginary world that bring the 4 siblings together to become rulers.  <strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:  </strong>This book is relevant to any student that likes to read fiction.  It is relevant to both boys and girls.  Both will enjoy this wonderful book.  Again, this is a childhood favorite.  <strong><br><br>What to Learn?  </strong>Look at the details in this book?  When we write fiction, use this as an example.  The details, the imagery.... C. S. Lewis is one of the best authors I've ever read when dealing with fiction novels.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Ophelia<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion:  </strong>Ophelia is based on one of Shakespeare's tragedies.  It is a story of love and secrecy.   Ophelia has to make some big decisions in this novel regarding Hamlet and herself.  I won't give anymore away.  It is a challenging read, but well worth the time and the effort put forth.  <strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:  </strong>This book would serve any high school reader well.  I was an avid reader in high school and loved books like this.  It is suited for both boys and girls.  The suspense, mystery, and romance gives it a fun twist.  <strong><br><br>What to Learn?  </strong>This book can show my high school students how a Shakespearean-esque novel can be fun and intriguing.  It will hopefully broaden my students' horizons.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Fever<br></em></strong><br><strong>Official Opinion:  </strong>This book discusses the harsh reality of disease and epidemic.  It revolves around the main character and begins with her mother contracting the yellow fever.  The main character has to learn how to survive with this terrible disease spreading everywhere she goes.  <strong><br><br>Relevant Audience:  </strong>This book is relevant for both boys and girls.  It involves mystery, suspense, and thrill.  Middle/ young adult students would thoroughly enjoy this book.  <strong><br><br>What to Learn?  </strong>  This book covers the harsh reality of the history of the yellow fever in this country.  The students need to know about this history and the reality of what the repercussions were.  </div>]]></description>
