Multi-cultural family song

The video starts off by a group of three friends curiously asking each other about their colours. Then they show each other pictures of their families and explain their colours to each other. Then they break into song about how they are thankful for their colour and its apart of who they are. The song says “it lets me know I’m part of something bigger than me” which connects them to their community and heritage which is important. Then the songs continue into its course “every colour we embrace its part of who we are its what we celebrate my face!” which celebrates each person/child for who they are. This song shows inclusion and that it’s something that we should be proud of. By the song showing inclusion through that point of view, it creates strength and positivity around equality. It is important to shine that light on such a topic as it not only encourages kids to want to participate in inclusion, but it also helps to build healthy connections. As the song displays inclusion and equality in a powerful and proud way, it helps to teach children confidence and to share the importance of inclusion.

“We’re Different We’re the Same” is a children’s book by Bobbi Jane Kates. It goes through all our differences and then brings it back to how we all are the same, even though we may look different. For example, “Our noses are different. We’re the same, our noses are the same. They breath and sniff and sneeze and whiff.” I think this book represents inclusion well because it doesn’t hide are differences from us or gloss over them as something that’s unimportant it announces it and recoginzses it. But then it shows us how we may not look the same, but we are the same through what are body does for us like breathing or riding a bike. In the end of the book, it uses a rainbow as an example of this “A rainbow would be boring if it were only green or blue. What makes a rainbow beautiful is that it has every hue. So, aren’t you glad you look like you?”. I think this book shows to children that just because someone looks different than you doesn’t mean there different then you. In the way that you can always find common ground with someone especially when your kid. And it also shows that we shouldn’t be ashamed of differences if we don’t look like somebody else.

The bravest knight is a children’s show based on a popular children’s book. The show is about a ten-year-old girl learning how to become a knight through her father Sir Cedric. In her household the girl (Nia) has two openly gay fathers Sir Cedric and Prince Eric they adopted Nia. Through Nia’s prince training by her dad Sir Cedric. She learns about honour justice and compassion. Through sir Cedric knight training Nia. He is able to share his story with her. On how he you used to be a full-time pumpkin farmer then transformed himself into a knight. This show represents inclusion by showing different families and their accomplishments. I believe this children’s show is a good representation of equality in many different aspects. As it discusses equality in race, it also touches on the topic of the LGBTQ community which is another important place for inclusion. It is important show multiple aspects of inclusion because in order to be equal, equality throughout all communities needs to be discussed and apart of educational resources. By this children’s show not only discussing inclusion through different races, but also through different types of communities, it teaches younger generations that inclusion is necessary in multiple ways.
