Bombing on Hiroshima and Nagaski

The first attack on Japan happened on August 6th in Hiroshima. This atomic bomb killed 80,000 people instantly, then thousands later due to radiation. Then The second attack was on August 9th in Nagaski, killing 40,000 people. This bombing ended WW2 and surrerdering. There was also a huge build up prior to this event was very long aswell. This also shown the world how dangerous and destructive atomic bombs are.

The Berlin Wall

Berlin wall would prevent people to get influcenced by American ideas, people would try to escape the USSR controlled parts of Berlin to the other zones of Berlin

The Korean War

This was fought between North Korea and South Korea, Democratic vr Republican. This was a War of Atrrition and and suffered a lot of damage. This caused 2 -3 3 million deaths of civilians.

Cuban Missile Crisis

This was the highest tension point of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. The USA already tried to invade Cuba but failed horriblely. This almost led to the end of the world, but Mikhail Gorbachev stopped it by refusing to send missiles. This all occured in the ocean between Florida and Northern Cuba.

The Vietnam War

The North and South sides of Vietnam were conflicting because of the communist side, the north, and the pro USA side, in the south. This conflict ended up killing 2.2 million civilians on both sides combined. This was one of the most largest and longest conflicts during the cold war.

Khrushchev comes into power

A little after Stalin died, Khrushchev came into power in the year 1953. He was known for being a very explosive and emotional person, he also expanded the soviets military and launched the worlds first satellite.

The Space Race

The Fall of the Berlin Wall

Berlin decontructed the Berlin Wall after 28 years of it being up in Berlin. This was a step forward after the Cold War was beginning to calm down. Many people went to Berlin that weekend to celebrate that the wall was being taken down.
