Film departed from the text version because in the text, the "mother" says to wish for "200" pounds, but the film shows, the "son" says to wish for "300" pounds. This shows that the film showed isn't that much different, but it still departed from the story in the book. they also have the difference in the setting when the man came over to give Mr. White and his wife their money. In the text, they are inside having breakfast, but in the film, they are out in their yard talking.

The filmed version does stay faithful. It has the same meaning. A Lot of the parts were exactly the same in the book, For example when they wished for their son back he came back in his dead form, and knocked on the front door. Just like in the text version

I think the film version stayed faithful to the text version because they had some of the same narration and dialogue from the text. Although, I did see a key difference in the movie. In the book it quotes," I wish for two hundred pounds," said the old man distinctly. on the other hand, in the movie it says. " I wish for three hundred pounds. This is showing that the story and the movie/show were not exactly the same, but everything in the story was closely related or exactly the same in each.

The film version departed from the text version in numerous ways. One way was the money wish. Mr. White wished for 200 pounds, but in the film he wished for 300 pounds. Also, the film version differed by adding many more scenes. Like the church scene where Sergeant-major Morris was praying. The film had the same lines of dialogue for the most part, there were still some things that differed from each other throughout the film and the text. In my opinion, the film version was better because it gave off a more suspenseful effect. The characters showed much more emotion and had a lot more fear. Though the text version was not my favorite, it still had a range of great parts. So, in conclusion, the film version differed from the text version.

There were some differences though like when it said in the book "200 pounds" and the film said "300 pounds". Other than that there both pretty alike.

While I was watching the movie I understood more of what was happening and more into the story. Even tough its better to read and I did enjoy the book I had an easier time feeling the scary vibes and really knowing every detail that was there. So I would rather watch the film than read the book.

The film departed from the text because the video showed the first man who wished on the monkey's paw as well as at the end the video showed the mother's grave with the father lying in front of it dead. They also changed little details like in the first wish Mr. White wished for 300 pounds instead of 200 and the family didn't talk about using the money to pay off the debt on the house. The short story also said the parents were very old, but they didn't look that old to me.

In the film version you can clearly see the emotion given off by the characters, but in the text you have to inference what their faces look like.
