Why does Prospero forgive the conspirators? (10 sentences)

Prospero forgives Alonso, Gonzalo, Sebastian, and Antonio before he forgives Caliban, Stephen and Trinculo. Prospero wills Ariel to lure the men to a ring of fire he creates and introduces himself as the king of the island. As he resolves all the confusion between them and forgives his brother and Sebastian, Prospero realizes that his main problem overall has been resolved and he can let go of the grudge he's been holding for so long. Instead of using his power to take revenge on his enemies, Prospero decides to be the bigger person and put his differences aside. Prospero most likely knows that him harming the men would only produce more problems which is why he chooses to forgive and forget in an attempt to reconnect with his friends and establish a strong foundation for Miranda and Ferdinand's relationship. After Prospero forgives the four men, he goes on to forgive Caliban, Stephen and Trinculo. After Prospero realizes that his main problem was resolved, he sees that there's no reason to hold a grudge towards Caliban, Stephen and Trinculo. After Prospero's most prominent problems are resolved and out of his life, he tries to forgive everyone else in his life to free him from the guilt and acrimony he feels inside everyday. In putting aside his differences, Prospero not only gained his brother's friendship back, but his rightful throne in Milan as well.

1.) Prospero conveys a mystical and eerie tone, displaying a serious setting. These emotions are especially conveyed as Prospero exclaims "Set roaring war; to the dread rattling thunder Have I given fire and rifted Jove’s stout oak With his own bolt; the strong-based promontory
Have I made shake and by the spurs plucked up The pine and cedar" (44-47)

2.) In this monologue, Prospero is summoning the spirits and powers around him (as well as Ariel) to bring to him Alonso, Gonzalo, Sebastian, and Antonio.

From the beginning of this section, Prospero has the chance and ability to torture and possibly kill his brother along with his acquaintances. Even though Sebastian tricked Prospero and stole his throne, Prospero chooses to be the bigger person. Prospero forgives Sebastian and all his friends for all the pain and evil they've cast upon him. Prospero drops any grudge he once held above them and chooses forgiveness over spite and hatred. In this section, without forgiveness, Prospero may have exploded with anger towards Sebastian and Antonio and ended their lives as fast as he forgave them.
