This could range from offering personalized readings based on each student's tastes to designing tailored materials. For instance, we could have a vocabulary-focused text for each student, but with different content suited to their level or interests, while still covering the same vocabulary. And the same with all activities, questions, projects... If we keep an initial portfolio with the tastes and preferences of each student, we use AI to adapt any activity we do to their interests.

Universitat de València, Spain

Digitalisation makes learning very personal, like with language apps that change based on how you’re doing or AI tools that give you feedback right away. Online classes and blended learning let you move at your own pace. Plus, you’ve got stuff like quizzes that adjust to your skill level or virtual classrooms where you can pick between videos, podcasts, or reading—whatever works best for you. It’s all about making learning fit your style and abilities.

There are many apps and websites that promote digitalization like bamboozle, kahoot, etc. These online games are helpful to reinforce students' knowledge. They can also work with songs and youtube videos that motivate them to learn new vocabulary and grammar structures.

Digitalization offers many ways to promote adaptability to each student. For example, apps like Quizlet are great because students learn at their own pace since they can customize how they learn by, for example, creating their own flashcards. In this way, students develop autonomy. I also think tools like Kahoot or Bamboozle make learning fun and interactive, helping students stay engaged with the material. These tools make it easier to adapt teaching to different learning styles and interests.

The first examples that came to mind were apps like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone, which adapt content based on the learner's pace and performance. But this is only in regards of education, there are many other fields where digitalization contributes to individualization: streaming platforms such as Netflix, where they show you shows you might like according to what you have already watched or Tik Tok, where the algorithm works in such a great way that keeps its user hooked to the app.

I think an example of digitalisation contributing to individualisation would be the benefits of multimodal digital resources that serve as visual aids for those students that have trouble focusing on texts without pictures or moving stimuli. An example of digitalisation contributing to differentiation would be group projects that communicate via technological devices in a context where students with different levels cooperate.

There are many alternative interactive tools that can make learning more dynamic, such as Kahoot and Quizlet. In addition, multimedia resources (videos, podcasts...) adapt to different learning styles, making the content more accessible and engaging for everyone.
