Growth- Seed in the middle grow into more, the apples have to grow so people can eat them. There are even pills to stop people for falling in love. For one, they had similarities, such as strict rules and adopted children. Lowry made the utopia in the Giver the opposite of the failed utopias. Lowry made sure everyone would work together, that no one was weighed higher than the others, and that everyone is important. Yes the utopia Jonas lives in can survive because of all the traits Lowry included in the utopia. The reason for these differences is because the Receiver must concentrate and must not be disturbed in order to do their jobs.
