         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1549, the christian missionaries arrived in japan hoping to trade with the japanese. The Japanese accepted the offer and after the success of the missionaries, it lead to Tokugawa Ieyasu becoming upset. By 1612, however, the shogun had come to fear religious uprisings more. He banned Christianity and focused on ridding his country of all Christians. European missionaries were killed or driven out of Japan.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
