Today I learned basic phrases in Creole. I observed interesting methods of working with students combining learning and fun. Conversations with the school's teachers were very interesting, thanks to them I know more about education in Guadeloupe

Today we witnessed the importance of preserving the traditional creol language. As part of the local culture and their history it is so important to still teach this kind of beautiful mixed language. Sadly that it was not taught for so many years because of their history.

However it seems to be very tiring to teach it to students nowadays. But yet it can be and has to be done with so much rhythm, beats and love. It was awesome!

School woks better with some Drums

Monsieur Ferus enters the classroom. The students are interested but shy. He starts to talk with them, with lots of facial expressions and gestures and the first students get warm. But then Monsieur Ferus starts to play the drums and sing some simple fraises and a switch flips: everyone is clapping the hands to the rhythm of the drums and sing in the choir.

The words they sing were in Creol, the language of the slaves. The language was on the verge of extinction but people like Monsieur Ferus or Madame Elbourg are trying to keep the language alive and bring the cultural heritage closer to the kids. Their tools are dedication, passion, kindness and humor and of course: the Drums.

Tim

Knowledge of languages opens the world to everything. But it is not always necessary to know the language, we can also communicate in other ways - tell stories, sing, play music or simply be together. It opens our hearts, we become stronger and wiser.

Today I have learned few words in the language what about I did not know that this language exist in the world. I really enjoyed creole language lesson with story telling and music (drums and singing). I would like to be a kid and learn in this way. To learn and teach from the heart. The sounds of music are touching our soul and make a very special sensual touch to all what we do.
