         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Researchers at Stanford University have created a device that can constantly track concentrations of just about any protein, antibody, or hormone found in the blood (Medgadget, 2020)." "It provides a continuous stream of snapshots of readings that can be used to view trends of analyte concentrations in near-real-time (Medgadget, 2020)." The device employs a needle that sources blood from a vessel and moves it through its microfluidic channels (Medgadget, 2020). This happens repeatedly while ELISA is continuously performed on the blood (Medgadget, 2020).&nbsp; A "protein sandwich” that consists of two antibodies stuck together is used to run an ELISA test over and over and a fluorescent marker, is made to activate when the connection is made (Medgadget, 2020).          <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that having a bedside blood monitoring device that can measure any protein in the blood continuously would be an amazing tool for ICUs and Emergency rooms. So far, "real-time, continuous blood monitors have been developed for a few blood markers like glucose, lactate, and oxygen, but extending the technology beyond those few examples has proven “exceedingly difficult" (Stanford, 2020)." To date, the technology that has been developed and reported on has been called "promising"(Stanford, 2020). I feel that this means that we have a bit of wait ahead of us until it is ready for actual use.&nbsp;However, the ability to see real-time trending of blood gasses, glucose, cardiac markers, lactic acid levels, and numerous other labs would be extremely valuable in catching dangerous trends and treating patients before an emergency or death arises.
