Did Taiwan ever belong to China?
Taiwan is declared a province of the Qing Empire. Following defeat in the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895), the Qing government signs the Treaty of Shimonoseki, by which it cedes sovereignty over Taiwan to Japan, which rules the island until 1945.

Reflection:
The image of the mountains and stream represent the landscape of Taiwan. It’s an island saturated in beauty intertwined with nature.

The idea focuses on protesting the political regime who wants to destroy the island, its freedoms, and ultimately its citizens.

I love the freedom and liberty of being Taiwanese. I personally am against Chinese Communist Party’s egregious acts of intimidation and increased acts of aggression which only seek to harm or destroy the way of life in Taiwan.

I don't want to argue that Taiwan isn't China. these specific words give an underlying impression that it already is or at least was a part of China. The main message I wanted to deliver was Taiwan is Taiwan. I wanted to shed light on the fact to the core of our existence, the essence of our nature. I started to rephrase what I wanted to deliver. Going against the concept of "China" only scratches the surface of the meanings I want to deliver and the method is too obtuse. The messages from the WW2 propaganda posters inspired me. The wrongfully practiced ideology of communism tainted Taiwan. Taiwan isn't a simply a country. Taiwan is a symbol that embodies the culture, mindset and our lifestyle.
