We gave our planet a lot of power and the sun very little back then, even if it was false. Now, we credit the sun for every living thing on Earth and know we would perish without it. The human hands surrounding the Earth represent that humans themselves are able to give power to the universe and everything in it. This is a very mixed media piece of art. I used colored pencils for the hands and the bigger planets. I used watercolor for the blue background, stars, and a few clouds, and gouache for most of the clouds and the smaller planets and colored stars. I really like how I drew the Earth. I was inspired by a movie called The Ritual that I watched a couple of weeks ago. One thing that really caught my attention was the vast amount of trees that had so much detail to them. Now, what differentiates my personal project and what inspired me was that in the movie, the trees had Norse Runes, and the whole setting was very creepy and lonesome. I did try and incorporate the lonely aspect to my peace by adding the house since it then created the illusion of living alone, but at the same time, i wanted to stay true to the color pallet I used throughout my learning journal; Red, Blues, and Purples. The color scheme then shifted the original "Creepy"  feel to a more of a day-dreamy one. The colour palette of an Arabian-inspired room varies from a wide range of colour combinations. Warm neutrals and warm colours are very popular. Warm neutral tones on the walls will let accent colors and patterns pop more. Turquoise and emerald green hues are examples of cool colors that can be used. In addition, by adding elements of traditional living spaces into modern architecture and finding a good balance between both, a beautiful product could be created.The majority of Arab dwellings were constructed using locally available materials such as brick, mud brick, and stone. In most cases, wood was scarce. In the heat, Arab dwellings are generally designed to be cool and shaded. To avoid humidity, the ceilings were frequently vaulted. By letting in the texture of the natural materials into the living space, a homey, traditional feel can be added to the interior space. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that open family spaces are important to arabs and their culture. The tears represent the tiredness of putting on a fake face and being brainwashed as well as forcing a joyful emotion. It all comes together. Firstly I drew it out and colored it with colored pencils, then I retraced my drawing onto mixed-media paper and painted it with acrylic paint. It was a little difficult to paint in the smaller parts, but I managed to do it with a small brush. I didn't get the exact shade I wanted with the colors, but I think it still turned out well. There are some final touches that I wish I could add, but it's alright. For today it is often seen as an uncomfortable thing to reach out for metal health help and is often stigmatized. Artist Statement
  • I have made two separate series of photographs that take the viewer on a journey of London through the lens of architecture and reflections.
  • The two main elements and principles I explored were movement and texture. I chose these because the buildings are extremely detailed with carvings and statues that create amazing textures and capturing the reflections across the moving river was also a challenge. 
  • My prompts and inspirations were architectural studies. I have always loved photographing buildings especially old ones and what better place to do that than the city of London in which I was travelling to in spring break. I wanted to capture the busy feeling of London and express it in a calm way, mainly through the river. 
  • I strictly used my phone for this project. This was a challenge as I had to master changing the lighting and using different settings. 

  • There were many times in which I wanted to capture nice shots but the weather was either too cold, gloomy, even snowing from time to time so I either had to come back to take the photo or adjust my camera settings to the environment. For each Piece, I did not plan a single shot. I walked over 15 km every day so I naturally came across amazing places that I could bring to life through my photography.
