I think this piece should have a pretty equal mix in terms of being both head and chest dominant. Some parts where the music is meant to be sung higher, head voice is used, and in the parts where the music is written in lower ranges, it's meant to be sung more in chest voice. In terms of the dynamics, there is a pretty wide range of the ones being used. Some places where it is forte, or mezzo forte, is where the voices are meant to sound a bit stronger and more 'powerful' and some places where it is mezzo piano are obviously meant to sound softer. I think that also goes towards the lyrics, and how the dynamics relate to what you are singing, and the meaning of all of it.

-Brielle S

What are the lyrics talking about specifically related to this culture & holiday?

The lyrics are talking about traditions that are celebrated on this holiday.

The candles they light, go into a menorah. Each night they light a candle, it goes right to left and someone in the family reads in Hebrew. They go in the menorah according to the Jewish tradition, because Maccabees' victory over the Greeks, there was only enough oil to burn for one day in the Temple. Miraculously the oil burned for eight days. That is why the candles are lit for eight day. The driedle game is a popular way to learn Hebrew in a secret way. They play it as a way to enrich history and celebrate with family.
