         <description><![CDATA[<div>The skeletal system has 6 main functions:<br>1)Protection:The cranium and ribs protect the brain andvital organs in the chest.<br>2)Shape: Gives shape to the body which makes you tall or short.<br>3)Support: Holds your vital organs in place while playing sport. The vertebral column holds your body up.<br>4)Movement:Muscles are attached to the bone, which are jointed, when the muscles contract, the bones move.<br>5)Blood Production: Red bood cells (which carry oxygen in and out) and white blood cells (which protect against infection) are made in the bone marrrow of most bones.<br><br>6)The skeleton is also a storehouse for two minerals, calcium and phosphorus, that are essential for the functioning of other body systems, and this storehouse must be called upon in times of need.<br><br></div>]]></description>
