I chose this topic because this is the foundation of understanding and dissecting literature. This information that second grade students have to learn will help them as they read more and more and give them the ability to understand what they are reading on a deeper level.

1.) Lion King's Court

The Lion King needs a court. What words describe what a court should be? Once answers are given, the students then need to assign animals that fits those traits.

2.) Sculpture Gallery

This activity requires a pair of students. One in is the "sculptor" and the other is the "clay". Once the sculptor gets the clay in the position they want, the teacher walks by to inspect the gallery and ask questions.

My Favorite Activity

My favorite activity is "Hand Animals". Second graders will read about different animals. This activity will allow them to go over the text about animals by making an animal with my hands. While I am making these animals with my hands, I will ask questions. This gives the students the ability to retain information with a creative activity.
