It is done by using wax and dye. The word batik is actually from a Javanese word "tik" which means to dot. Batik usually decorated on fabric but nowadays it can also be used on paper, wood, leather and ceramic surface. The process of making batik fabric will involve the delicate and repeated process of waxing, dyeing and boiling. Wax is important as it is used for colour blocking in the colouring process. There are variety of techniques can be used in making batik and the wax used also different depend on the surface that will be decorated. The dye used is wax resistant dye and usually called remazol. Through this video, we will be able to know the type of batik making and its process.
