She was a member of the lacrosse and field hockey team, managed the boy's wrestling team, and had dreams of being an optician. She and Syed kept their relationship a secret from their conservative immigrant families, but eventually, the secrecy frustrated Lee, which was what purportedly drove a wedge between them. After they broke up, Lee began to date a guy named Don, who worked at a local LensCrafters.

Hae was supposed to meet with him after she picked up her little cousin. She never made it to her cousin. It seems odd to me that Don made no attempt to communicate with her when she didn't show up. The only conclusion available is that he killed her or he knew she was dead somehow. He didn't contact the police until 1:30am. There isn't much information on Don but the information that is open to the public doesn't look good for him.

Debbie was a former friend and classmate of Hae's. She was suspicious of Don and didn't think the police were looking into him thoroughly enough. Wanting to bring justice to Hae, Debbie contacted Don herself. She emailed him and the two proceeded to talk on the phone for seven hours, and later when Clinedinst learned that Warren was visiting her sister at a nearby college, he suggested they meet. Don showed romantic interest during this visit and Debbie was shocked and didn't know what to do with that thought.

Sellers is a small yet significant piece of this whole case. He is the individual who found Hae's body and reported it to the police. He has no connection to any of the other people in this case. Sellers is an interesting character, in fact he has a record. He is a streaker. Some people have speculated whether he might have heard rumours relating to Hae's murder, and therefore had reason to think there could have been a body in the park because the body was almost completely hidden. Police and investigators on the case stated that it was impossible to spot the body even if you knew where it was and that it was there. I believe that Alonzo Sellers knows more than he's led people to believe.

According to Jay’s first interview, his original story, he got a call from Adnan at 10:45 AM. At 11:45 Adnan arrives at Jay’s house they go to Westview mall and Adnan tells Jay that he’s going to kill Hae. At 12:30 Jay drops Adnan off at school and keeps Adnan‘s phone and car. Five minutes later Jay goes to Jenn’s house and hangs out there for about three hours. Jenn supposedly does not get home until 12:45. At 3:40 PM Adnan calls Jay and tells Jay to meet him at a strip off Edmondson Avenue. By 4:00 PM Adnan shows Jay Hae’s body in the trunk of her car. About 15 minutes later, Adnan and Jay ditch Hae’s car at the I 70 Park and ride. Between 20 to 15 minutes later Adnan and Jay smoke a blunt at Patapsco State Park. They stay there for about 30 minutes. By 4:30 Jay drops Adnan off at track practice and goes home. Jay picks up Adnan from track practice at 6:45. They head to McDonald’s where Adnan gets a call from the police asking about Hae. They leave McDonald’s and head to Jay’s for shovels around 7:15. At approximately 7:30 Jay and Adnan return to the park and ride to retrieve Hae’s car. They drive around the area. Adnan is driving Hae’s car while Jay drives Adnan’s. They arrive at Leakin Park, and Adnan buries Hae’s body in the woods. Jay claims he doesn’t help and says it takes Adnan about half and hour. They leave Leakin Park and drive around some more, until finally ditching Hae’s car in a residential lot. Adnan throws Hae’s things and the shovel into a dumpster at Westview mall. After that, they stop at 7-Eleven, Adnan drops Jay off at home, and Jay tells Jenn tat Adnan killed Hae.
