Both Antonia and Joanna talk about the interaction between animal society and human society. ( all are common social phenomenon and trendy topics for young people in nowadays society)

Developing key observational goals: We will focus on the human-animal relationship we observe and consider how they challenge traditional gender norms or relate to how technology influences pets.

Documenting our experience: Taking notes, photos, or recording conversations can help us reflect on our observations and make links to our research.

Contact the pet shops in advance to request permission for recording and interviews. Clearly explain the purpose of our study and assure them the process will be respectful.

2. Prepare interview materials:

Prepare interview questions for both pet workers, focusing on pet-related technology, grooming trends, and gender-related patterns in pet ownership.

3. Coordinate in the group:

Assign roles within the group—one person for recording, another for leading interviews, and a third to take notes.

4. Plan the Schedule:

Set up a timeline for each pet shop visit. Ensure we arrive at convenient times, preferably during off-peak hours, to minimize disruptions.

5. Conduct the Research:

Arrive on time and respect the pet shop’s environment. Take photos where permitted, focusing on relevant elements, and conduct our interviews in a quiet manner. Record answers and take notes for future analysis, ensuring minimal disruption to the shop’s normal operations.

6. Post-Research Tasks:

After the visits, organize the data (notes, photos, and interview recordings) and analyze it. Look for patterns or key insights related to our research questions, and summarize our findings.

Secondly, we will go to "Jing Pet" 592 meters near our dormitory. 

The final stop of our off-campus research will be "宠贝贝宠物店" and the activities we are going to conduct are all the same. 

Three typical pet shops are chosen because they are available by foot and possess different target costumers, service categories and pricing tiers, demonstrating diversity in our research. 

Reasons: 

The location is very convenient because it is next to our school and dormitory so that they are familiar with our campus. This makes it easier for us to explain our enthusiasm for conducting a social study centering on animals. 

The pet shop's use of pet-related technology connects well with Joanna's research question, giving us an opportunity to observe how technology is applied in the pet industry. Through interviews, we also hope to gain insights into industry perspectives and unique experiences.

In addition, their grooming and maintenance services reflect pet owners' demands for their pets' appearance. We are curious whether their grooming styles aim to create more feminine or masculine looks for pets. 

We also plan to ask the staff about their observations of male and female pet owners, hoping to draw some interesting conclusions!
