These  cells are taken from frozen embryos, used for artificial insemination, that would be thrown away all the same after a certain amount of time and it would be a waste of resources. Besides, taking these cells from embryos doesn't mean "to kill" a possible future baby because these cells are still in the first stage called Blastocyst that doesn't have all the "characteristics" that make a human being.

I am in favor of their use: a little girl has been able to recover from a form of thalassemia thanks to  the transplantation of bone marrow stem cells. Would  you have rather deprived this child of a treatment that has brought her back to life?
