Hunger Striker Ends Fast, but Not Fight, Against Nuclear Power in Taiwan

A former head of the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party was not eating in protest of the nuclear power plant on Taiwan. Lin Yi-hsiung was the former leader and began his protest on April 22. He ended his strike in May first. His fast drew attention from current leaders and other protesters, who rallied behind him. the government has halted the Power plant in reaction to this.

Nuclear Energy is the process of using Uranium to create heat that eventually generates energy. Although Nuclear Power plants do not create much waste, they are still very dangerous. They create radiation that does not go away. They have to be locked up and sealed for many years for the radioactivity to go away. Nuclear energy companies also have to spend a fortune in safety. If something goes wrong, many people can be hurt because of the radiation levels being so high.
