I picked this topic because I feel I have had the most experience with it and can really best best display the topic.

6.EE.5: Being able to understand and solve equations and inequalities. Being able to use substitution to determine if a given number within a equation/inequality is true.

6.EE.6: Being able to use variables as numbers and creating an expression when using a real world situation mathematics problem.

6.EE.7: Being able to solve real world problems by solving and writing equations in x+p=q and px=q format.

This is an activity that I created through Desmos. I picked this applet because of how many different features and things you can have students do within it. I do think It was easy to navigate and make. My only thing is coming up with a good layout of how I want to present information to students. I think with more practice the better I can achieve this.

Creating Inequalities/Equations Through Word Problems

This is an activity that I created that will give students a couple examples of real world problems. In this activity they will have a combination of inequalities and equations where they need determine in each scenario which format would be the best to use.

I learned through this final Padlet portfolio that when teaching middle school students mathematics that you need to explain an assignment very well for them to understand what is happening. One way that I think you can do this is by giving the students and example of what is expected from them at the assignment so that they can refer to. Another way to help students understand what is being asked of them is giving them enough space for each question are part of the equation that you want them to answer and give that a heading for each problem. I did this with one of the assignments I created so that students weren't confused with what they had to do. I also think with teaching middle school mathematics we have to be careful with not only how we present information but how we were our activities. I think with this activity it helped me get a good idea of what all you can do with each standard for mathematics. There's not just one right or wrong answer but there are many ways to present information to students.
