I know personally that when I am in the middle of something, it is often hard to see change. I will also be keeping a notebook of things I will try - to see what works and what might need some tweaking. In many ways, commitment is the same as Grit. We promise to deliver, we persevere to manage, we make it our one and only goal to make our dreams of classroom management in the classroom a reality. Being a teacher isn't just teaching, its the commitment to teaching and managing the classroom and every aspect to it. 

As far as Grit goes, my GRITonym was "perseverance", and at this point I think it's clear where I'm doing with this. To me, committing to grit is redundant in the best way. To me, committing to grit means "persevering to persevere." It means to push through each and every day, each and every challenge, in order to provide to your students what they deserve. This is the first step in professional management; the first step is pushing through by any and all means necessary to be the best you can be, taking no excuses and no days off. 

Keep going, persevere to persevere.

At each center, I can have critical thinking questions for students to answer in regards to the task at hand. I can create opportunities for students to work collaboratively by assigning different roles for group members. Establishing the expectations of workshop and holding those students to those expectations will foster a engaging learning environment.

I think it important for students to understand that they are working toward something meaningful that will impact the trajectory of their futures. By encouraging my student to think about what they want for themselves and what it will take to achieve their goals, they will hopefully begin to recognize the power in being intentional in their academic performance.
