Summary - As you may all know covid had a crazy impact on a lot of things especially the stocks market. Not just the global markets were effected but even the TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange). In the months of February to March in 2020, the stock market faced a crazy plunge in numbers as the composite index dropped by 37 percent. If you still don't get the picture, this was a drop of over one trillion dollars in money in the market. But even tho the stock market dropped one thing that helped the TSX market to go up was the interest rates. As you may not know, lowering interest rates can cause the market to go up eventually and that is what happened slowly.

Why this website - Firstly I chose this website because it was published by the bank of Canada. This tells me that I am reading from a reliable source and I can be sure the information I'm reading is true.Secondly I wanted to give you little insight in how much was lost when the stock market plunge occurred due to covid.

Summary - As stock investors predicted that the stock market should go up, they were right but also wrong. The investors did not know there would be another variant that would mess everything up for them.As the stock market in Canada was going up that when we were all introduced to the delta variant which brought the stock investors back on their knees.Basically in the months between June to July, if the stocks are up that means covid cases are low, and if the market is low the cases are high. This is what the stock market has been looking like for the past 1-2 years.

Why this website - This is a great website that shows how pandemics like this can effect a lot of things in ways you won't even see coming. The reason for stock markets going down during pandemic likes this can have various factors. One of them can be "panic selling" when investors get scared for the suture and sell quickly and bring market shares down.Another reason can be just the difficulty for certain companies to make profits during such hard times where people are unable to afford things or some things are not needed compared to other things.

Summary - As we all know there is a new variant which is scaring everyone especially the investors. The Toronto stock exchange is down five hundred points due to the new variant and investors preparing for the worst.Energy stocks had a really rough time due to the price oil plunging more than 13 percent. The reason for investors being scared of this variant more than other variants is being it is said by the world health organization that this variant is "highly transmissible".

Why I chose this website - This website clearly exemplifies how a lot of problem happening worldwide can effect a country and its markets in many ways. Something that originated in Africa has people in other countries who aren't even facing this crisis yet are scared because its very likely it can happen to you.

Summary - Basically in this video it talks about how the TSX was red (down) and Black Friday. This is a shock to many investors because usually Black Friday was the day when companies make big profits and the markets are green (up). This red week was due to the variant scaring people due to the variant being dangerous to the point where we might have another lockdown.

Why this video - I found this very interesting being I am a heavy investor and when I looked at my portfolio at the end of Friday, I was scared but also shocked. This means that not only me but a lot of investors might have to start preparing for another dip in the market and this won't be a small dip (market going down).

Summary - This video is dated one year after the world health organization announced covid is a pandemic. This video along with the little article below it explains about the many things that happened during the pandemic in Canada. An example was the oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia. This price was between those to companies affected Canadas energy industry with drops to about 30 percent because of the possibilities of investors losing money from holding shares of these energy companies so they started selling couple shares.

Why this video - This video was very interesting regarding the Saudi and Russia price war.I did not even think that this war between those two countries would effect Canada so much until I heard Canadas energy industry stocks dropped. This also shows the volatility of the markets during times like this.

Summary - Due to the new variant causing trouble in the stocks market, companies like Air Canada faced a pretty big drop in their market price. Air Canada dropped 11 percent because of investors selling due to realizing if there is a lockdown in Ontario that is enough to affect the Air Canada stock greatly.

Why I chose this website - I chose this website because this is something every should be following which is the variant. This variant is the next big thing about to possible bring the investors back to their knees if lockdown hits several cities.

Summary - In this video the guy is basically giving ideas to people on what are good companies to invest into during this pandemic.

Why I chose this video - The reason why I chose this video is not to tell people what were good investments but what companies actually did good during the pandemic while other companies were facing larges losses in the market.I really liked when the guy in the video talked about lawblaws being a good stock investment because a lot of people would be buying things to cook instead of buying out from restraints.Another thing I found interesting is when the guy said lawblaws owns shoppers drug mart which which increase both those companies stocks because a lot of people go to shopper drug mart for essentials things such as vitamins, soap, sanitizer and eat.

This image may seem like something stupid but it a very important. rule to follow when dealing with market plunges. Just because you see a stock going down does not mean you have to sell right away. For example, people who held their Canadian railway company stocks from when the pandemic started are up more than they were before.Stocks is about be patient because the market will always come back to you but you have to wait patiently when you buy and hold.

Question #1. What did you learn about your topic that surprised you the most?

The thing I learned the most from this topic was the fact that just because there is a conflict between two countries does not mean your country won't be affected.Im not saying this can happen for all but just like that conflict between Saudi and Russia, Canada was affected because their energy industry is linked to that situation.

Question #2. Provide a real-life example of how this topic is relevant or interesting for you.

This topic is relevant to me because I am an investor in stock market myself. This is relevant because I have faced a lot of losses in the stock market ever since covid started but I have found ways to bounce back because I either held stocks and I sold at the right time. Also, this topic is relevant to my life because not just me but everyone around me has been affected by covid and we should continue to be careful and safe.

Question #3. If you could pass on your knowledge to a family member or friend, what do you think is the most important thing to pass on?

One thing I would pass on to my family members or friends regarding this topic is to always doing your research before you start investing into stocks during this pandemic. Another thing I would suggest to people that would help them make profits in the stocks market would be to watch the news. All stock prices changes are affected because of the big time investors looking at the news and making moves based off what happens. Watching the news can not only help you make smart choices in terms of investing in the stock market but also help you know what's going on in the world.
