Northeast

- The Northeast Cultural area was one of the first regions to obtain contact with the Europeans, it would stretch from present day Canada's Atlantic coast to North Carolina and inland to the Mississippi River Valley.
- The Northeast mainly consisted of two types of groups, these would be the Iroquoian speakers and the Algonquian speakers.
- Most of the people in the Northeast lived near rivers in small fortified villages, or lived in smaller villages consisting of farming and fishing near the ocean.

Great Plains

1. The great plains mainly consisted of the Lipan, Tonkawa, Kiowa, and Sarsi Tribes. These tribes in the area rely much on their animals, for they keep the big areas of grass healthy and fresh for them. They are also needed for clothing and winter when it gets cold.
2. The women would wear a dress-like outfit with a piece covering their arms, while the men wore a shirt with leggings and moccasins.
3. The tribes mostly all believe in the same singular god which in their language translates to Wakan Tankan, with their own beliefs and religion for him.

Southeast

- The Southeast cultural area lies just North of the Gulf of Mexico and South of the Northeast region.
- Many of its inhabitants were skilled farmers and grew a type of resource called staple crops, these were crops like maize, tobacco, beans, sunflower, and squash. These native people lived in small rural villages.
- The tribal folk that lived in the Southeast region consisted of many groups, these were the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole

California

- California was known for having more people than any other landscape at the time, holding about 300,000 people from just the 16th century.
- California had roughly over 100 native tribes alone, while these groups spoke over 200 different dialects. These languages were also derived from the Penutian.
- Although there were many different tribe members and beliefs throughout California, many of its inhabitants lived very similarly.

Southwest

- The Southwest was known for being a very dry and somewhat barren region compared to others, it consisted of a huge desert and reached from present day Arizona and New Mexico.
- Sedentary farmers such as the Hopi, the Zuni, the Yaqui and the Yuma grew crops like corn, beans and squash.
- Many of the tribes folk in this region built permanent settlements known as pueblos, and were built out of adobe and stone.

Great Basin

- The Great Basin cultural area was an expansive bowl shape land that was formed by the Rocky Mountains to the east, the Columbia Plateau to the north, the Sierra Nevadas to the west, and the Colorado Plateau to the south.
- The Great Basin was a very barren wasteland consisting of deserts, brackish lakes and salt flats.
- The people in this region foraged for food and had to hunt for small animals like snakes and lizards, this was because of these small groups always needing to be on the move.

Plateau

- The culture area of the Plateau was set in the Columbia and Fraser River basins at the intersection of the Subarctic, the Great Basin, the Plains, the Northwest Coast and California.
- Most of the inhabitants of the Plateau lived in small, peaceful villages along streams and riverbanks and survived by fishing, hunting and gathering.
- In the Southern Plateau region, the majority of its inhabitants spoke languages derived from the Penutian, and others spoke Salishan.

Subarctic

- The Subarctic has a more swampy terrain with pine- like forest areas otherwise known as taiga, with waterlogged tundra landscapes.
- Since the Subarctic had such harsh land to travel, tribes had to use snowshoes, toboggans and lightweight canoes for their transportation.
- The people that inhabited the Subarctic were part of many tribes but were split out more and separated, these people did not build permanent settlements as they mostly moved together as a small family.

Arctic

- The Arctic is known as a frozen desert, there are no trees, it is completely flat and is very cold. It was also near the Arctic circle in the present day.
- Alaska, Canada and Greenland, was home to the Inuit and the Aleut tribes. Both groups spoke and continue to speak, dialects descended from the Eskimo-Aleut language family.
- Because of the harsh climate and scarce food sources there weren't many people in each tribe, and those that did inhabit the Arctic were more spread out and distant.

Northwest Coast

- The Northwest Coast cultural area was placed along the Pacific coast from British Columbia to the top of Northern California.
- The Northwest Coast was known for its abundant amount of resources and had a slightly mild climate. This was because of the many rivers and large oceans that connected.
- Unlike many of the other hunter-gathering tribes who struggled to make a living and were forced to follow animal herds from place to place, the Indians of the Pacific Northwest were safe and had enough resources to build permanent villages that housed hundreds of people each.

- Every Native group or tribe belongs to their own spiritual beliefs most being the same or fairly similar.

- Many Native people of the same tribes were spread all across the regions.

- Women were mostly treated the same throughout all tribes in each region because of tribal beliefs.

- Native People almost always wore different clothing from each other, this was because of things like the climate and terrain.

- The Native tribes were of course set across the regions and had to adjust to their own climates and terrain, forming different materials, advancements, building materials, and more.

- Only a few tribes were actually joined together and worked as a community and thrived. Many tribes were spread out and either lived on their own or had minor contact with others.
