A growing depression in Europe resulted in British investors selling their American investments and redeeming them for gold. This fostered a growing American gold loss, creating a panic. The war provided Great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America, but disputes over subsequent frontier policy and paying the war's expenses led to colonial discontent, and ultimately to the American Revolution.

Pancho Villa was public enemy number 1 for American people. Villa led an attack on US soil in Columbus, New Mexico. President Wilson ordered troops to Mexico and searched for Villa for 11 months.

Villa was supported by the U.S but when the U.S recognized Carranza’s government, Villa threatened the U.S. He killed Americans that were on their way to a Mexico mine and killed Americans in Columbus, New Mexico. President wilson ordered his capture and had 15,000 soldiers invade Mexico to look for him. A war between the U.S. and MExico was barely avoided.
