My sophomore English teacher smelled of cigarettes and B.O., but he brought literature to life by acting it out. He was not afraid to make an ass of himself in front of us. What an inspiration!

When in my credential program, I had my sixth grade teacher tell me that of all her years teaching, the only changes that truly made a difference were class size reduction and air conditioning (Central Valley). She told me the most important thing was to make memories for the students. Something I try to remember.

My mother told me the one thing you no one can take from you is education. She lived through wars, occupations, devastating earthquakes and fires, illnesses, and deaths in Greece. She said education was the most important thing for survival. I want to pass on the value of education.

My Sophomore Social Studies teacher had us act out EVERYTHING in history. He made learning (and history) more fun that I ever realized it could be. I try to do that for my students as well. He still teaches at Hillsdale and I run into him every so often!

I did outdoor ed as a 6th grader. Then became a cabin leader in high school and college. After the third time, I knew what I was going to do.

growing up I always struggled with learning and school and so I wanted to change learning for other kids

I wanted to be a teacher ever since Kindergarten. I never had a back-up plan. Children have been a blessing to me for all these years. We made a difference in the loves of all those we touch.
