The children then took over, using their initiative to collect more props from around the classroom.
The children were excited to set up the 'restaurant' role play area, adding more chairs, a baby's high chair and baby, crockery, a till, money, aprons and a chef's hat.
A few children wrote menus, deciding on the types of food they would like to serve, while another took orders.
One girl made a menu by using emergent writing marks, mimicking the style of adults.
The girls took it in turns to be the chef and waitress, using pots and utensils to cook and holding a note pad to scribble down the orders before going away to bring back food and drinks.
Money was also being used by the customers as they paid for their orders.
