An entire youth group was created in opposition to the pipeline ,they call it " Rezpect Our Water ". They have been very active in raising awareness to the public through social media, rallies, and videos. One young teen says , " On one hand, you’re seeing a very important chapter in our lives coming to a close and it's painful. On the other hand, I’m determined to rise from the ashes of that pain". The International Indigenous of Youth Council also joined in on the protest against the pipeline and very active in having the petition signed. These kids want a future and respect for those that couldn't make it that far. They want clean water without a worry every time they go for some.

The 1,172 mile Dakota pipeline is a pipeline in the United States. The pipeline will run through Western North Dakota to Southern Illinois. Some agree with the pipeline and others do not. Many people in the Standing Rock Tribe considered the pipeline and its ended crossing of the Missouri River to cause a threat to the clean water and to ancient burial grounds. People began protest in which they called #NODAPL . When complete , the Dakota pipeline could carry an estimated 470,000 to 570,000 barrels of oil every day.

WHO BENEFITS AND SUFFERS

The economy. Both suffers and is benefited. The pipeline allows many job opportunities and will pump money into factories that manufacture steel pipes. The pipeline does threaten the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux and the millions downstream. Climate. On the pro side , the pipeline makes transporting oil from North Dakota much more safer , more environmentally friendly , and more cost effective. But of course , the pipeline will worsen climate change by pumping hundreds of thousands of gallons of share oil into the air each day. In addition to jobs, energy independence, and lower fuel prices, the pipeline will create an estimated 55 million dollars of property tax revenue each year to support public services in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois.

OBAMA VS TRUMP

Obama says no. Trump says why not. Obama believed hardly in fighting climate change , a major priority. Trump focused on job opportunity when signing the agreement for the pipeline. The differences in opinion on climate change are the main reason for such opposing views. Each party believes one thing or the other. Trump has stated in many articles that it's not about the climate , its about getting the unemployed out and getting things done. Trump signed this environmental pact on the 4th day in office.

MY THOUGHTS

I believe that the pipeline does have its pros yet it also has its cons. The transportation of oil is much more safe and efficient but it has ruined the lives of others and that is understandable. Hundreds of people have been arrested , people have been injured and hurt over the matter of this pipeline. Building the Dakota pipeline causes problems in many areas and the building and flowing needs to stop in order to decrease these problems. For those suffering due to the pipeline , i hurt for you. The fear of not having clean water and the ruined grounds of loved ones breaks each heart , and that is understandable. Maybe if so many lives were not negatively affected , the pipeline would be okay.
