Our parents were born and grew up in completely different times, they usually follow these gender rules and make us follow them as well and most of the times without awareness.
Some of their opinions:
Mom: " I think that society has give you guys so much pressure because when you try something that the world doesn't see as "feminine" or "masculine" they judge you and exclude you. Now that I have daugthers I see them as capable as a man, so these gender rules are for men who are afraid of women's power and intelligence and for women who were raised like that and don't know their value.
Dad: "Daughters and sons have to have the same amount of chores at home and that's just the beginning because most of the countries lack everything related to gender equality"

The difference between men and women work is discussed in the reading . The most important points are:

The employers believe the women aren’t going to work hard from home because they think the women will dedicate their work time to their family or other activities.
This way to work at home increases the traditional gender roles where the women attend the home and family instead of work more hours than the men.
Men will be more focused to do his work, he will be worried even if they aren't at this job instead women tend to think more in other things to do.

As men as women can be dedicated to the home, they can procrastinate in the same way, and concentrate on work in the same way.

Inequity is influenced by factors like skin color, socioeconomic status, nationality. That impact in a negative way the society, increases the percentage of poverty, working life, the way we relate, etc.
