Symbolic Interactionalism takes a look at social behavior from a linguistic perspective and how people use language to become social beings. This picture is of my daughter reading one of her favorite books. The reason I took this picture was because it shows my daughter processing the written word on the text and applying it to her own life, drawing from past experiences and past knowledge to further understand the text, and eventually applying that to her future social interactions.

This little house came from the mountains of Columbia, which is where my mother's family is from. I visit there every year and I am proud of my Columbian heritage, whether it'd be through academics, music, or art, that culture flows through my veins and gives me life. I am proud of my culture, which is something I hope many get to say.

Stereotypes are widely held beliefs, both positive and negative, that showcase a particular group of people or thing that is a blanket statement, encompassing all in that group. This image is from the television series Seinfeld, and in particular the episode entitled, "The Contest." George, Elaine, Jerry, and Kramer are friends that make a bet on who can withhold from masturbation the longest. Elaine, being the only woman, was initially told that she could not bet because she was not like a man, and was assured that, "men have to do it." When she guffawed at that she had to give the boys better odds of winning, 2:1. Finally, an agreement was reached where she would have to put $150 into the pot, instead of the $100 like the boys. She didn't win but she wasn't last.

This comes in varying forms, yet white privilege has become a phrase that society has acknowledged and identified as bring real. This is a picture of a friend I met and have had some great conversations with. He is white and understands the privilege he experiences is due to the color of his skin but is bitter about it. Along with white privilege is white guilt, which has yet to bubble on the surface, if it ever will.

When something is innovative, you think about how your life existed before it, and how different it could have been if we had it when we were young. Since Amazon has existed has it not made your life easier?

H&M is a multimillion dollar clothing corporation with international interest from both investors and customers alike.
The reason this bag reminds me of capitalism is because when I review that term I always think of consumption. Based off the way our society is ran, we as citizens are forced to consume in order to live. Clothing has no exception. Whether someone shops at a goodwill or H&M, the need for clothing is relevant. Companies in the clothing industry have a guaranteed stream of revenue - much like the food industry. The concept of capitalism in this photo is represented in the business model behind the company itself. The demand for clothes is constant and so is the supply which for H&M is profit. Profit off of ome person's need will always symbolize capitalism for me.

The reason this photo symbolizes monogamy to me is because in American society - as well as many others - when a couple is married or engaged there is a ring to symbolize the union of the two people entering the marriage. I am not married but because of the significance of the placement of a ring, for even this simple photo, it seemed apparent that this be the appropriate representation for the concept of monogamy.

This is a photo of three elephants and Pooh bear. The reason this represents social integration is because there are various elephants with the integrated Pooh bear. Each elephant is an elephant but holds its it's own individuality. In society there are different versions of the same class usually but now we are seeing a more integrated society. Some citizens are the classically esteemed Dumbo; Others are a newer Dumbos but not as valued; and then there are the regular elephants that have no claim to a title like Dumbo but yet they are still an elephant part of the elephant society. Pooh bear however is represents the element of modern day social integration in that he is not an elephant nor will he ever be a Dumbo but yet he is welcomed into the elephant society. This photo represents social integration because it contains illustrations of the concept.
