Pole Vault 2016-2019

"Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, Lady, were no crime." (Marvell, 1-2).

This line actually summarizes my experience in pole vault. As a freshman, I was pretty scared to join anything really. My friends urged me to join Track and Field and do an event, but I was scared to and told myself that I would maybe try it later. However, I took a risk under the pressure of my friends, and never regretted the decision. Even though I've been in the pole vault team for a few years, that initial year was the most memorable, and even wasting one year due to my "coyness" would be extremely regrettable.

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may" (Herrick,1)

CampMed was a weekend camping experience that provided medical related workshops. This was actually my first time sleeping somewhere else from my family. This was quite an enlightening experience that I was scared to go to as a freshman. Nevertheless I seized the day and went, making valuable memories in the process.

"For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry." (Herrick, 15,16).

One of the most memorable experiences. I had to sit in a bus for 6 hours to go up to Reno, Nevada with the rest of my club. This was an event for Key Club that united students from California, Nevada and Hawaii. It was filled with enriching workshops that sought to educate and improve the character of those attending. In fact, one of the workshops I attended was a Carpe Diem workshop. I got to experience so many things here, and it was an opportunity I would regret if I missed it. This would probably be the single most memorable experience in my high school youth.

I like listening to Panic! At The Disco. It's my favorite band. Brendon Urie, the single permanent member, creates meaningful music. In my opinion he does embody the Carpe Diem spirit in some of his songs. From Hey Look Ma I Made It, he sings, "I see it, I want it, I take it, I take it". This line embodies the very definition of Carpe Diem of seizing "rosebuds". The song listed below also embodies the Carpe Diem spirit in my opinion.

My dream career is in the field of computer science. I love programming and creating things. Jobs in computer science are heavily experience based, so that'll mean grabbing all the rosebuds I can in order to succeed.
