What is cross cutting?

Cross cutting is a technique when 2 or more scences that take place in different times or places are perdormed on stage at the same time.

How can cross cutting be used to create locations and building tension?

Cross cutting can make the audience feel tension by using something extra, such as light, so they will focus more on watching this performance.

Day1 May15th/2024_________Planning (Before Changes)

Today we choose our scenes with our group, we decided to choose scenes 3,p49-51, the scenes where Cathy found Adam in the wood, and people are having a long dialog with Adam.

We are also doing a crosscutting of a scenes in chapter 3, p44-45 the part where Jan and Mark are shocked by Adam is still alive.

What ideas explored throughout the unit and your individual research do you intend to further explore in developing your performance concept to a point of realisation?
After researching, our group decided to incorporate cross-cutting and inner activities into our performance. But after the summative we think that these two techniques did not fit well together.

What is the main message/theme you wish to communicate in your performance?

In the performance we wanted to build a more three-dimensional characters through mental activities, so that the audience could understand the characters' personality better.

What problems do you want to discuss and illustrate when performing this piece?
Some of the issues we wanted to discuss were how to say the lines more affectively, and should Adam's character's mental activity be shown in human form because we felt that it would be confusing for the audience so we ended up just showing Adam's mental activity in the form of a voice.

Personally, I think the mental activity should be done when the every body is pauses then a person comes out from the back as an inner monologue before starting to express their inner thoughts.

The changes we had make:

We removed the character of Leah, who was played by me, and I came up with Adam's thoughts and spoke what was on his mind.
