Don't they have more than 1 court so they can put more people on trial than 1 at a time. The other guy in Celestine's cell has been waiting for a trial but hasn't gotten one yet because more people who are more important are getting convicted. How would they convict so many people if it takes so long to get a decision on 1 person with one court.

i feel as if we should not be punished for one flaw that we make and make it permanent for life. People make mistakes and that is fine because not everyone is perfect adn to be condemned to a brand that everyone can see is just wrong

Just for making a slight mistake you get your skin branded and are shamed for the rest of your life. Its not like you did anything illegal or terrible. Celestine just tried to help an old man that could have potentially died if he didn't get to sit down, and she is the one that gets sent to jail for over 2 years. The two ladies weren't even sitting in the correct seats and they didn't even care.

The pace of the text is somewhat slow to me as it breaks down a matter of 5 days to 27 chapters. but to me this isnt a bad thing. when authors break down there books into longer parts, and extend days it gets me way more interested and and draws me into the book making me want to read more. Also making the story slow paced allows me to comprehend more because it gives the book so much more depth and I get more knowledge then when they fly past days in the matter of a couple of chapters

Celestine starts out as a girl who always obeys the laws, likes the logic in everything, very reasonable. Almost perfect. But then she makes a mistake of aiding someone in need, and this changes her whole personality. She turns brave and defiant. When she is asked about why she did, she completely ignores what Crevan told her to do, and puts her life on the line. When she is told that if she says sorry that her branding will not be continued, she sticks her tongue out in defiance, and to let them know she is ready for the next brand.

The pace of the story varies a lot. at the beginning we see a family having dinner, then within a short amount of time there is some action. Next the story slows down again with Celestine on a bus with flawed. And the next day she is taken for being flawed. the story get slow again with court rulings and trials. and it picks back up again with the branding, and the pain and feelings that are going on. The author keeps the story flowing at all times. with slow paced and fast paced going back and forth between the two. This is keeping me more interested in the story than some of the other books we have read in English and in other classes.

I think that the theme of the book is probably identity and individual choices that define you because that is what this whole society is about. You have to make choices in your everyday life to make sure that you are perfects and when someone is not perfect, which is their individual choice that they should not punished for, they get branded with an F, and this story is all about why that system can not work so i think that the theme is finding ones identity

I think the major theme of the book is that our actions have consequences. Celestine chose to do the right thing but in her messed up society it turned out to be the wrong thing. As her consequence she was then branded flawed. Judge Crevan then was the one that gave her 5 initial brandings, and because of this, his son ran away and is nowhere to be found. Everything these characters do, comes back to them somehow and someway.
