Miss Diehl - "Now, there's a bunch of people here. They brought news that there are rescue services scouting the island for survivors. We're going to head to higher ground so hopefully we can be seen or heard on the radio. None of them brought any supplies, some are hurt... Hopefully, we get rescued soon, we don't have enough supplies for 15 people, plus us, for more than a day or so."

They say that rescues services have been circling, looking for stranded people and animals. We're all going to stick together and hike to the top of the mountain so we can be seen. We're hoping they hear us on the radio...."

Miss Diehl - "Have I mentioned how much I hate being wet, cold, dirty, bugs, outside, water and Tsunamis? Mrs. Kramer and I found a nice cave to hide out in, we had dinner (those instant dinners were so not worth what we paid for them, but when you're hungry, you're hungry) and now we're trying to find an update on the radio. Maybe tomorrow we'll go outside and see if we can get better reception or find someone else. There has to be other people. Mrs. Kramer wants to try to get some sleep, but I can't imagine sleeping after all that."

Miss Diehl - "I knew going to an island surrounded by water was a TERRIBLE idea! I wanted to go to a nice land-locked state but noooo... we had to have our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hawaii. The water is almost up to our third story hotel room. If thats not bad enough, the internet says we need to be super concerned about when the water goes back to the ocean and takes everything with it....hopefully not including us. We're grabbing everything we can carry, going to the hotel shop to grab anything else we can and then getting to the highest point...WHICH IS THE ROOF. Thank goodness the water terrifies me a lot more than the height..."

Mrs. Kramer - "Eventually, the noise subsided. Miss Diehl and I decided to wait a few more minutes just to be safe before we looked outside again. When we did, we were shocked to see that the water was almost as high as our hotel room! By some miracle, we still had internet connection, so we researched on what to do. According to the information we found, the biggest concern is when the water recedes back into the ocean. We made the quick choice to gather as many supplies as we needed from the room, hit the hotel store for additional resources and then make it to the highest point we can...At this point, that's the roof..."

All of the sudden, we felt a massive Earthquake! Mrs. Kramer and I took shelter in the doorways. once the shaking stopped, we went to look out the window. There was a massive wave headed towards us. From the sound of the water and destruction, I would say the 1st and 2nd floor are toast.... I knew I hated water for a reason!"

I wonder if more people will eventually show up this way... other people had to have the same ideas we did. I guess we should listen to the radio for any updates, maybe try to contact someone. If nothing else, we can get some sleep. We found a nice dry cave to stay in so at least that should be relatively safe."

We were lucky to get up to the mountain when we did - there's been a couple of minor earthquakes, so who knows if another wave will come. It's cold, there's a lot of bugs, and I don't have Dutch. But we're alive, we're together and we have supplies, so I guess that's something."

Some people are resting, some are cleaning up....some aren't doing well at all. We helped get the people all situation and we were trying to figure out a plan when all the sudden, a helicopter landed. Rescue crews came out, carrying supplies. More helicopters are on there way...
It's crazy to think it's only been 72 hours since the Earthquake that lead to the Tsunami struck. It seems like it's been so much longer!!!! But we made it... We made it."

Miss Diehl - "Once we got to the top of the mountain, I was so relieved to see some clean water. Some people ran to it, lapping it up out of their hands. Some started to wash off the dirt and debris they collected on the way. Some people had to be carried up, and lay on the ground. They don't look to good. Mrs. Kramer, I and several others started talking about a plan....Some of those people may not make it...We might run out of food. One of the survivors is hinting at "Cutting out the weakest links." I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound good...
Just as I was about to tell Mrs. Kramer that we we're better off on our own, a helicopter spotted us and landed. Rescue crews flooded out and started to load the injured people. More help is on the way.
It's been 72 hours since this all started. I want to be home. I want my dog. I want my Dutch. But we survived."
