I am already looking forward to using screen casts to help with training my classroom staff. But after watching the presentation I realized I can also use screen cast to help my students who require repeated directions to help them gain independence with computer based tasks. For instance, I do not need to tell students how to log into websites every day. I can simply instruct them to watch the screencast!

There is so much information on possible uses here. I hope I can remember them all! Student presentations can really be enhanced with this. I had a few students who were so anxiety filled that they could/would not present to the class. This is an excellent alternative for those students. Even very simple assignments like a video reflection at the end of a lesson could be valuable. Clarifying difficult concepts with a screencast and posting to Classroom is one way I'll use it. I really like the idea of having the students make stop animation videos too!

I like the idea of communcation with parents and recording lessons in math and fundations. When parents are assisting with homework,, a lesson on how we teach math and mark up words in fundations would be helpful. I also think students would enjoy recording answers to questions on flipgrid.

I think this is a great option for groups or individual students to create presentations on assigned topics or research. We can use this to introduce historical context of a novel, research literary theories and reading strategies, and this way students can revisit information that is still relevant later on within a unit. It can also be a good alternative for students who struggle with public speaking in a live classroom setting (I assume...? I personally would rather speak directly to a class than to record my voice, but I guess I'll get used to it eventually :) ).

My students had a hard time writing dialogue in their narrative pieces last year. I am imagining using screencasting to let them do voice overs to practice dialogue. If everyone got the same clip, it would be funny to see all the different ideas the students could come up with. I would record a screencast of a video with the volume muted. Then, the students would record a screencast and provide a voice over. It could be very fun. I imagine something like these.

Padlet is a really cool tool that I would like to use in my music classroom. My 5th graders complete a song composition every February and I would love to be able to record them and have them share it with one another. Also, my 4th graders work on Recorder Karate, where they earn belts for completing songs at different levels. Since I only do this with them once a month, I don't always get to hear all of the kids each time (very large classes). Screencasting would be a great tool for me to hear everyone! The students could record themselves testing for belts and I would be able to listen to it and comment on their performances. I am excited to try it out this school year!

Screencastify is a great tool! Flipping the classroom using screencastify enables teachers to address areas of math that students are struggling with during actual class time As a Title 1 Math Teacher, I can see the benefits of prerecording mini lessons that students notoriously have had difficulty with in the past. I can use this method to reteach concepts while working with others. I often have multiple students at the same time that need help with different subjects and different concepts. I am trying to figure out how to use a whiteboard app/extension in order to show a problem step by step within screencastify, as I do not have a touch screen laptop. Any suggestions?

This may give younger students who are struggling to get their thoughts down on paper another way to present their ideas. Also, I would like to try to have my students create screencasts in order to track their progress in reading fluency and practice any presentations they have to give.

After reviewing the presentations and looking at others' comments I realize that there are many different ways to incorporate screencasting into the classroom. I really like the idea of being able to create screencasts for days when a substitute is in the room. This could definitely help cut back on the confusion. I also like the idea of being able to flip the classroom in this manner. I've been hesitant with relying on others videos and presentations and now I have a definite means to create my own presentation to meet the needs of my students. I also am looking forward to having students create presentations and posting them to a Padlet for review. Our first unit of the year is meant to be a short review of content and I have always struggled with the best way to jigsaw the information. I think I am going to have students create presentations and post to a Padlet this year. I'm very excited to implement this technology.

Then they can upload them to our google classroom, and another assignment can be to watch a classmate's screencast and comment about what they learned. This makes them an expert on two composers, which we can then spend 5 minutes reviewing in class to get a general knowledge about a few more. This would be awesome for any topic that has many facets and limited time to talk about them!

I also love the idea of recording important information from lessons so students can refresh at home or if they are absent they can easily catch up and figure out what we were focusing on. My only concern with this and technology use in general is being able to apply it. I have no smart board and only get chrome books once a day for a small period of time and i'm not sure all

Third graders are generally new to using Chromebooks for turning in assignments. Last year, I assigned much of their writing assignments in Google Classroom and docs. Then, I would communicate and conference with them either while they were working, or later so they could go back to edit their work. I think using a screen cast to give more information to my students would be helpful for me and my students because I will be able to explain in further detail where they might need to make additions or corrections, etc. Sometimes, comments are misunderstood by the students. By listening to my voice and seeing the video screen cast, they will hopefully feel more comfortable and understand what I am trying to explain. Also, as you can see, my comments could end up being too much for them to read:)
