I looked on the BBC site a while ago and when the apprenticeship schemes offered went live for applications I immediately went back to the site to perhaps apply, and while the prospect of these apprenticeships look great, they offer a Level 3 course, not Level 4, so I'm unsure of what to do for this. In the end However I did decide to apply for the course and fill out some details on the page, as I'm just looking to apply for some different apprenticeships to make sure I have plenty of options.

The majority of my apprenticeship searches are for Creative Media which will include digital marketing, production, etc. I'm primarily looking to find an apprenticeship that will include the skills I already know such as editing and Photoshop, so digital marketing could be good, as this will include making and promoting content for an organisation or brand, allowing to make images and videos using the skills I have, which is what I really enjoy about media. I think it could be good for me as it also could allow me to use social media to help with promotion, an area where I already have experience and expertise.

To apply for an apprenticeship, head over to the government website and go to make an account on the "become an apprentice" option, there you can make an account and fill out all your details, one of which will be your address to help find apprenticeships close to you. Once your account is created you can start searching on the website using different job titles, keywords, etc.

Once you see a vacancy, you can click on apply, before you then have to give key details such as qualifications. Although, a lot of these will be entered automatically if you already filled them in on your account, so the main thing you will need to provide is answers to any questions the employer asks about you. Having a printed/file copy of your Personal Statement or CV as well as an Achievement Portfolio could really be helpful. Most of the questions are general questions that most jobs will have asked you, especially about education and any previous experience, as an apprenticeship is essentially a job, if you're still in education, try and include any predicted grades you have, as well as extra curricular activities like Duke of Edinburgh. You'll have to put a lot of time into the "Strengths" section, to give the employer as good of an impression as possible about yourself, and to be used as a plan or base for your interview, as similar questions will come up.

However, with most of these apprenticeships the same problem still persists, which is the fact they start too early, when I'm still at college, so I can't commit to an apprenticeship then. Although I do like the look of this apprenticeship, I have access to Final Cut Pro at college and could easily learn how to do it, so perhaps the same apprenticeship will be available later, or something at least similar.

Most deadlines for apprenticeship applications are usually about a month/3 weeks after they are posted, with a start date only a few days later. Right now I'm unable to apply for any due to the start date being so close, while I'm still at college, so I'll have to regularly check the website as well as others because some could be starting in September, much like the BBC's apprenticeship scheme.

An apprenticeship, naturally, won't be as high paying as a regular job, and there's no real fixed about that you can usually earn from them, I've looked at multiple examples and different figures are shown, with the range being from around £7,000 a year to £18,000.
