Who doesn't love some authentic New Orleans cooking? You will be given $150 four days of the week for food, on travel days (your first and last day) you will get $75 a day for food, and for your sixth day (the last non-travel day) you will get $200 for food. We recommend on your four days of $150 budgeting you buy groceries for breakfast food like pastries or fruits, buy one smaller meal like sandwiches or some other less expensive meal, and one more expensive nicer meal each day. For example, for breakfast, you can have a bagel and a banana that you purchased at the store, for lunch, you can have hot dogs sold by street vendors, and for dinner, you can go get authentic New Orleans seafood.

Since it takes just under 14 hours to get to New Orleans and you and your family are driving straight through with minimal breaks for food, gas, and the bathroom, you should leave your home in Evanston around 7 in the morning. You can eat breakfast at home, pack a lunch, and get food from a drive through for dinner. This will allow you to reach your Airbnb by around 9 at night. This way you can get settled and get some good sleep to be ready for your activities tomorrow.
