Paraphrasing: I have nothing else so here is this poem. Please let it keep you warm like clothes do in the winter. I love you. This poem is like a pot of yellow corn and a scarf for your head. It will protect you and bring you pleasure. This poem is like treasure if you were lost because life can get complicated. Put my poem in drawer. My drawer is like a cabin in the woods. Now I'm in a cabin in the woods. You're knocking on the door of my cabin. I will let you in and the fire and I will keep you warm and protected. This poem is all I have but its the only thing the everyone needs. We will continue to live our lives despite the harshness of the world. No matter if people knock you down keep in mind that I love you.

This poem is structured into 4 stanzas. At the end of each stanza the phrase "I love you" is repeated. The poem has a little bit of a rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme of this poem is a free verse as some parts in the poem rhyme. "it is a scarf for your head, to wear over your hair.." However, the poem as a whole doesn't follow a specific criterion.

After each stanza the phrase "I love you" appears. This phrase is repeated because as the speaker is talking to his lover he reminds her in between his words that he loves her and always will. It also serves a reminder to the readers that this is a love poem as this repetition gives off that tone.

A lot of words/sentences in this poem have multiple meanings. In the first stanza the speaker tells his lover to "keep it like a warm coat when winter comes to cover you" Baca is saying that this poem serves to be something that gives off warmth and comfort if his sweetheart is feeling down or cold like the winter. In the third stanza the speaker the Baca speaks of nature and the woods. "in the wilderness life becomes when mature;

and in the corner of your drawer,

tucked away like a cabin or hogan

in dense trees, come knocking,

and I will answer". He is saying that life can get more complicated as we get older and that he will always be buy her side through it all.

The speaker of the poem is a person that is speaking to their lover. The speaker of the poem could be poor as they state that the poem is all that they have. The speaker of the poem could also value poetry and their words. His words that are used throughout the poem and his love that he shows to his significant other makes up for not having money. The poem gives off a lovable tone. The whole poem is dedicated to how much the speaker feels for his lover.

Simile/Metaphor:

In the poem the speaker uses a simile to say his poem is a cabin. He tells his lover that life can become messy and to store this poem into a "drawer" which symbolizes a place that is not always looked at everyday but still important. He then compares the drawer to a cabin in the dense trees. The dense trees represent how cluttering life can be. The speaker is saying that through the messiness of life and when no one else seems to be there, he will be.
