         <title>If you steal a son then you will be put to death. I think it does scare people because who would want to be put to death. Also a harsh punishment would be scsary considering you don&#39;t know what it is.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the laws is that if someone is to take a slave out of the city gates they shall be put to death.<br>I think today that would be a harsh punishment and that they should of had jails and just put them there for three years. But back then that was considered a fair punishment.<br>I also think that the law&nbsp;<strong>would</strong>&nbsp;scare people in to following the law unless they were not afraid of death.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>If anyone takes a male or female out of the city gate they shall die. I think it's a little harsh to <strong>kill</strong> someone for taking a slave outside the city gates. I agree with Hammurabi about "an eye for an eye" everyone who does something bad should get punished though, I think it's very harsh to kill someone for taking a slave outside of the gates.<br> I do think that harsh punishments scare people into following the law, because now they have to be careful because if they don't follow Hammurabi's code they might die. Hammurabi made the right decision to make these rules and help prevent war.</div>]]></description>

(and I wouldn't even be punished in this scenario because I'm a daughter) <br>2. I believe harsh punishments <strong><em>DO </em></strong>scare people into following the law. This is because people do not like it when they are hurt (unless you are <strong><em>VERY </em></strong>weird) Even though this might work, I believe there are better ways of convincing people to follow the law. </div>]]></description>
