Today, I had a pleasant first meeting with the three other participants from Austria. 😃 We will definitely incorporate the exercise 'what's in your name' into our Erasmus+ exchange projects. It was striking that most of us apparently chose the number of letters in our own names as a number unconsciously. An important insight from today is that you have multiple roles in your life, but who you truly are, as opposed to what you do, is quite difficult to answer. Another fact I learned today is that barracudas like cheese. 😉

What I remember most about today is, that the place and space around me is very important for my learning - and learning can also be thinking about my name 😉

Today, I learned that in some cases, I can accept what I cannot change quite easily (like the sudden rain). I was suprised to hear about a castle Mayerling (close to Vienna) and I learned that it played an important role in history :)

Today I enjoyed learning some really interesting facts about Guadeloupe, even though hearing about slavery and the fact that racism is still an issue made me feel a bit sad. I cannot understand why people feel superior or inferior just because of their skin colour - humans are humans. In connection to that, I also thought about respectful communication, how you approach people and the importance of first impressions when talking to someone for the first time.

I also added the two books we heard about today to my reading list and I learned that in the Netherlands, people mostly only teach one subject and eat sprinkles on bread :-) Another insight today was experiencing how valuable water is as a resource.

Today I learned about the deeper meaning of my name and what is says about me. Like its emotion and colour. An excercize I will do with my students in the future as well.

The most important thing I learned this day is that we are more than our roles. I’m not just a teacher, musician, sister, aunt, daughter or what else - I am Evelijn. Next to that I have to admit that I enjoyed yoga more than I expected.
