There are three main characters in this novel. The story is told from their three different point of views. You have Rachel. who is an unemployed alcoholic. She was formerly married to Tom, who left her for another woman. Anna is the woman that Tom left Rachel for. Anna has a deep rooted hatred for Rachel. Megan lives just down the street from Tom and Anna (who live in Rachel and Tom's old house). Everyday Rachel watches Megan and her husband from the train as she passes by their house.

Rachel is a middle age, unemployed, and an alcoholic. She and her ex-husband are recently divorced, and he left her for another woman. She rides the train each day from her apartment to her "job". She often drinks to the point of where she blacks out and harasses Tom and Anna. The train she passes goes past her old house, and the house of a young couple, Megan and Scott. One day Rachel sees Megan kissing another man, and then she goes missing. Rachel takes it upon herself to find out what happened to Megan. Will she ever find out what really happened to Megan?

I haven't finished The Girl on the Train yet, but I am about halfway through. The book was a little slow to start, but by about the 15th or 20th page I was hooked. This book is truly a thriller. You think one thing might happen and it completely changes. At first I kind of hated Rachel, but the more you find out her story the more depressing it is. I can see why shes so upset, and why she keeps harassing her ex-husband. Anna is terrible. She knew that Tom was married to Rachel, but chose to pursue him anyway. I am not a fan of Anna at all, she is also very over-dramatic about situations. At first, like Rachel I personally believed that Megan and Scott were the perfect couple, but as Megan's side of the story comes out you see how truly flawed their marriage is.

Megan is unhappy and is constantly cheating on her husband, she doesn't want kids and is very cold and distant from Scott at times. Scott doesn't trust Megan, with good reason. He knows that Megan has cheated before, and its a reoccurring issue that comes between them. I have mixed feelings about Megan. I think she is self-centered and doesn't really care for Scott. I feel bad for Scott for being in such a toxic relationship.
