She is a sixteen-year-old werewolf who is currently living in the suburbs of a city in Maryland. Her old home in West Virginia, where she lived with her parents and the rest of her werewolf pack, was destroyed in a fire set by humans. This was retaliation for the death of two humans at the hands of werewolves. 
Vivian's father- he died early on in the story by humans. The house had caught on fire and burned down which caused the death of her father. Vivian and the rest of her family managed to escape.
Aiden- he is very kind. Vivian quickly feel in love with him but Aiden didn't accept her for who she was. After he found out what she was he wanted nothing to do with her. Aiden then later agreed to meet with Vivian resulting in other members of the pack showing up and starting a fight. Aiden is so scared and ends up accidentally shooting Vivian.

She falls in love with a human boy, but is devastated when he is unable to accept her for who she is. Her rage and grief cause her to lose control of herself while in wolf form. When murders begin to happen, Vivian is terrified that she is the killer. However, she learns that another werewolf in her pack, Astrid, has been setting her up
2. Vivian has been forced to move home to Maryland after her home in West Virginia was burned down. This was in retaliation for murders committed by werewolves in her pack. Her father, the leader of the pack, died in the fire. Now the pack is living in the suburbs of a Maryland city and is separated and disjointed without a leader.
3. Vivian finds a poem about werewolves in her school magazine, she decides to find out who the author is. She finds Aiden, a good-looking boy who she is immediately attracted to. Vivian begins a relationship with Aiden and soon becomes a part of his group of friends.
4. Vivian decides to reveal her true self to Aiden, and transforms in front of him. He is terrified and ends their relationship, telling her that he is too disturbed by her beast form. She is angry and upset, and her emotions get the better of her. 
5. Vivian is accidentally shot by the terrified Aiden. Vivian begs the others to spare Aiden. Vivian is now permanently stuck between human and wolf form. She thinks that the silver bullet has caused this, but her friend Gabriel helps her to understand that she can only heal if she learns to accept herself for who she really is. Which she does and is healed.

Setting- Blood and Chocolate takes place in Riverview, a suburban Maryland town.
Significant Locations- Many of the scenes take place in the woods because when the wolves find out if a human has killed one of there kind they bring them to the woods and give them a chance to run away, but if the human doesn't make it to the other side of the river in time then they die.
Time period- this took place in the late 1900's

This literary device revolves around Vivian because of her love for Aiden and all of the problems that has caused.
Foil- A foil is another character in a story who contrasts with the main character, usually to highlight one of their attributes. This literary device also revolves around Aiden and Vivian because it shows how they cannot be together.
