Students created audio reviews of books (with Audioboom) and created book covers for their reviews (with PicCollage). Audio reviews could be accessed with QR codes.

After completing their individual projects, students joined together to provide feedback on each project (with TodaysMeet). Since some student feedback was stronger than others, Professor Zumpano led a presentation on how to provide strong feedback. Students sorted their feedback into three categories:

  • neutral feedback
  • nonsense feedback

Even when the professor facilitated a presentation on feedback, the students were the ones sorting the feedback into different categories. The teacher facilitates; the students lead.

2. Collaborative: Students work together to provide feedback on everyone's projects. Professor Zumpano, Ms. Foreman, and the 5th grade students collaborate by integrating technology tools.

3. Interactive: Students learn different ways to create a book review through multimedia technology. Round 2, Group Project: After creating an audio book review and book cover independently, students could create a second book review collaboratively. Pairs and groups lend themselves well to book review podcasts, Booktoks, and Booktube videos.

2. Scavenger Hunt: Create a classroom scavenger hunt of the different book review posters. Use a QR code to show a "secret word". Students can write down the secret word on the scavenger hunt, collecting all the words for a prize.

3. Reflection Post: After the project, invite students to write about what they learned, what did (and didn't) go well, and how they'd offer this activity to future 5th graders. Students can work independently or in groups for reflection.
