Now, those who are 16 and up are able to get the vaccine. I think this article is informational on where the vaccine is available around the United States. This will affect me by giving me the opportunity to get the vaccine. It will also help the slow beginning of going back to "normal". A possible outcome would be possibly going back to how we were before the pandemic. In the next 5 years, we have many opportunities and chances to be COVID free, but everyone has to do their part for this to happen.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there was a rise in the use of disposable masks, gloves, and face coverings. These items have become everyday essentials to keep ourselves and others safe. But according to the article they also have a negative impact on the environment. These items are being repeatedly disposed of incorrectly and are polluting our Earth. We should all be aware of environmental issues such as the pollution that is filling our air and oceans. We should start taking into account how we dispose of masks and gloves. As of now we don’t know when exactly the pandemic will end, so if this careless behavior keeps up five years from now our Earth will be incredibly polluted with our trash.

"Pfizer says their COVID-19 Vaccine is looking 90% effective"

This article explains how Pfizer is among some of the leading companies for the COVID-19 Vaccine by being 90% effective on defending people from catching COVID-19. I think the article is helpful for those who are considering getting the vaccine now that basically everyone is eligible. This affects me because when I got my first dose earlier this month I got Pfizer and the side effects weren't so bad. A possible outcome from all this is that everyone in the United States will be vaccinated and everything will slowly start to go back to normal. This article will still matter in the next five years because its adding additional information of the vaccines that helped us all get back to the way it was before COVID-19 was even a thing.

Thursday the house of representatives passed a vote for Washington DC to become the 51 state of United States of America. Now the senates have to approve the vote. This change for the country is a waste of time because it's not necessary to add more states in this country. I do not see a good outcome in this change. This change will matter in the next 5 years because it's a change to the country.

I think this article is informative and talks about a issue that is being overlooked currently. I think this article will everyone because the amount of masks and gloves that are going into the oceans increases the amount of pollution we have. A outcome I would like to see is more people recycling and properly throwing away their mask and gloves. I think this will matter in 5 years because pollution in our oceans affects the ecosystem.

Personal protective equipment, also known as PPE; masks, gloves, face shields, etc may be safeguards from preventing the Covid, however it has caused a worldwide pollution problem. And I think it's unfortunate, it's not just affecting me, but it's effecting the environment and animals. Since some PPE hits the beaches and oceans, smaller animals get trapped in them or mistaken it as food. Nearly 1.6 billion masks were flooded in oceans in 2020, now currently in 2021, and it's still increasing. In the next five years, if there has been no movements, our environment will be more effective then it was before.
https://newsela.com/read/ppe-saves-lives-causes-pollution/id/2001019796/

COVID-19 has effected everyone all over the world. The reason being that it is a new virus and experts didn´t know much about the virus which make the virus spread tremendously. To prevent the virus to spread we use protective equipment that keeps us safe. For example, mask shields, gloves, and disposable mask. Its increasing pollution which is considered PPE pollution. What I think about the article is it very much is a problem because its affecting everyone in the world including the environment and animals. If everyone gets vaccinated it should make COVID-19 stop spreading which we would not need protective equipment and would stop the pollution. People can also try resuable equipment which would also make a huge difference.
This article should matter in 5 years because it needs to be spread all over the world for people can be aware and find solutions to stop the pollution.

Student Lead U.S push for fuller Black History Education

Ebele Azikiwe a middle school student in New Jersey wants more in depth black history in school. Upon her arrival to seventh grade she knew exactly what she would be taught in terms of black history. As you know, in the month of May in 2020, an unarmed black man by the name of George Floyd was murdered. In response to this Ebele wrote a letter to her principal asking for more than the same repetitive lesson. This letter was soon reached the superintendent and has truly caused an uproar. I believe that this article is truly amazing since it tackles and important issue and gives credit where it's due. This article will affect me and many others because it can eventually cause more diverse studies to take place in California. However, this article most likely won't matter in the next five years. I say this because everything that relates to black rights or history usually dissipates within a few months or less.

The article Students Perspectives: One Year into the COVID-19 pandemic by Newsela staff and students the article states that 93 percent of american elementary, middle school, and high school students adapted to a new way to learn because of covid 19. It was stressful for the students to learn a different way to still be in school during this hard time it wasnt easy at all especially they had to do everything online. Doing online work may seem easy but it is not your eyes start to hurt because you wake up and start looking at a screen that is very bright. And when students went to a school they had time to get ready but most students now just wake up grab there computer and start there classes. But now that some schools open for once a week to go to the school most students dont even show up because they see no point in going. COVID-19 affected all of us because we didnt know what to do students are stressing out because its new to them and because some teachers leave to much homework more then what they gave when students went to school.
