So the basic story “Ten with a flag” is a story about a society who about how the government also known as the central controls everybody and their lives and it controls what they do.

The story "Ten with a flag" by Joseph Paul Haines fits into the genre of dystopian fiction because there were characteristics of a dystopian society in the story. Society is controlled by technology, through computers, robots, and scientific means. People are split into groups with specialized functions, and Johnnie was often feeling trapped and is struggling to escape.

The story “Ten with a Flag” by Joseph Haines, is a dystopian because it is all based upon a Technological control, called Central. Central is a computer machine that controls everything they do. People are rated based upon how they can benefit the society they live in. Also, learning overtime that something is terribly wrong with the way they all live and the rules they are being told to follow by.

The story “TEN WITH A FLAG” written by Joseph Paul Haines, fits into a dystopian fiction because throughout the story central is in control which means that the government is in control over everything and they control people, it also means that people cant do much with their life. In the story when babies are born they are rated from 1 to 10.

The story Ten With A Flag by Joseph Paul Haines is a dystopian story. I think this because everyone is separated into rankings 1 through 10, 10 being the best. The government has technological control over citizens. Technology chooses peoples clothes, drives cars for them, and talks to them. Johnnie is the dystopian protagonist, he questions why his child has a flag but is rated a 10 in society.

This story fits into the description of a dystopia because of the amount of trust and belief that the main characters have in the central (A.K.A: Government) The government has complete control over society. The people know that they can’t just ask any question because even if they say the wrong thing the central can have their rating reduced, and people are afraid of that, but the purpose of the flag is to rate the people on the decisions they are
