Gatsby tries the whole book to live the AD but in reality his only dream was Daisy. I used the movie The Pursuit of Happiness as well and it does represent many struggles in the everyday life of trying to achieve the AD. It shows poverty, hunger, homelessness, relationships and also just in general financial struggles. She uses the example of freedom for the AD and I also agree with that. Their sources further add to evidence that the American Dream simply cannot happen. For example Michaela uses the roaring 20's and talks about the lavish lifestyles until the great depression. I think this is a really good connection and can connect to the idea of even if you're living the life you always dreamed bad things can be waiting. For Samara she uses an article that talks about citizens depending on their government. I think this is a really interesting and true point. Many people in the U.S will not like what someone in the government is doing but they're afraid to speak out. This brings me back to when in class we were asked "what would you do if you saw injustices" many people said they would be upset by it but wouldn't get involved. U.S citizens can attain an American dream, they rely on others too much and tend to change what they want.
