Minh việt

The Majestic Tiger: Habitat, Diet, and Threats

The tiger (Panthera tigris) is one of the world’s most recognized and majestic animals, yet it faces an uncertain future in the wild. As the largest cat species, the tiger is a highly adaptable apex predator, residing in a diverse range of environments across Asia. These habitats stretch from the cold, coniferous and deciduous forests of the Russian Far East to the warm, humid tropical forests of Southeast Asia. They can also be found in grasslands and even unique ecosystems like the dense mangrove swamps of the Sundarbans.

As obligate carnivores, tigers hunt exclusively for meat, primarily stalking large ungulates like deer (including sambar and chital) and wild boars. They are solitary hunters, relying on stealth and power to ambush prey, which often outweighs them significantly. Their role as an apex predator is crucial, as they help maintain the health and balance of the ecosystems they inhabit by controlling herbivore populations.

Despite their power, tigers are classified as endangered due to severe threats caused by human activity. The most critical threat is habitat loss and fragmentation; forests are continually cleared for farming and development, shrinking the tigers' territory and isolating their populations. This fragmentation makes finding mates difficult, reducing genetic diversity. A second major threat is poaching and the illegal wildlife trade, where tigers are hunted for their pelts and body parts for use in traditional medicine. These factors, combined with human-wildlife conflict near shrinking habitats, mean conservation efforts are vital to securing the future of this iconic species.

i choose toucan.

Diet
Toucans are mainly frugivores (fruit-eaters) but are opportunistic omnivores: they eat a wide variety of fruits and berries and will also take insects, small lizards, eggs or nestlings, and small rodents when available. Their large bill helps them reach and handle fruit and sometimes to grab prey or rip food apart.

Where they live (Habitat & Range)
Toucans are Neotropical birds found from southern Mexico through Central America into much of South America. Most species live high in the forest canopy of tropical lowland rainforests, though some species occur in montane forests or more open woodland. They typically nest in tree cavities (often holes made by other animals) and spend most of their time in trees rather than on the ground.

How they care for their young (Breeding & Parental Care)
Toucans usually lay about 2–4 white eggs in a tree cavity. Both parents take part in incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks. When hatched, chicks are largely naked and helpless; parents feed them by passing soft food (often regurgitated fruit and small prey) into the nest until the chicks grow feathers and can swallow larger items. After fledging, young often remain with the parents for a while and sometimes join small social groups.

My favorite animal is the cat. Cats are small, cute, and very friendly. They have soft fur and bright eyes. I like cats because they are playful and also love to sleep. A cat can make people feel relaxed when it purrs. They are also good companions because they like to stay close to their owners. Taking care of a cat is not very difficult. You just need to feed it, give it water, and play with it. For me, cats are not only pets but also part of the family.

It lives in icy regions close to the sea, where it hunts mainly seals. Polar bears have thick white fur and black skin that help them stay warm in freezing temperatures. Their large paws make them excellent swimmers and allow them to walk on ice without slipping. With a thick layer of blubber, they can survive in extremely cold conditions.

Task B – An animal from Vietnam or Southeast Asia
The gibbon is a small ape that lives in the tropical forests of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It is known for its long arms, which allow it to swing quickly from tree to tree. Unlike monkeys, gibbons do not have tails. They eat fruits, leaves, flowers, and sometimes insects. Gibbons are also famous for their loud and unique calls, which they use to communicate and mark their territory.

Task C – A tropical rainforest animal
The sloth is a very slow-moving animal that lives in the rainforests of Central and South America. It spends most of its life hanging upside down on trees, using its long claws to hold onto branches. Sloths eat mainly leaves, but they sometimes also eat fruits and flowers. Because they move slowly, predators often have difficulty spotting them. Algae even grow on their fur, giving them na

haiduong
